Description: Some of the most beautiful Alabama trails are found in its national forests and many opportunities for fun and adventure off road. There are six forest districts located inside four national forests in Alabama that offer trail lovers motor vehicle access.

The most notable Alabama trail system located in a national forest is the Flint Creek Multiple-Use Trail which offers over 16 miles of trail fun. These trails are open for dirt bikes and ATV’s less than fifty inches wide. Since this is a multiple-use trail you can also expect to find horse and bike riders as well as hikers out on the trail. There are restrooms located at the trail head.

The motor vehicle use map for the Bankhead, Conecuh, Talladega, and Tuskegee National Forests is available at USDA Forest Service offices in Montgomery, Double Springs, Andalusia, Brent, Helfin, Talladega, and Tuskegee, Alabama. You can also download MVUM map booklets from the USDA Forest Service website listed below. The motor vehicle use map is black and white and does not provide much information besides the roads and trails open to motor vehicles. It's not a very good map as it only shows open roads. Existing national forest maps such as the forest visitor map or the trail guide that show open and closed roads, trails (hiking, biking, horse), recreation sites, etc. are available for public use. These maps show much greater detail than the motor vehicle use maps do.

The map is legal documentation displaying the roads and trails that are open to public motor vehicle use. If a road or trail does not appear on the map it means that it is not open to public vehicular use. The map will be reviewed and updated annually. Please visit the USDA Forest Service website for more details.

The park now has obstacles, trails, mud pits, canyons, and a primitive camping facility. Our experience trying to find places to ride kept leading us to areas that forced you to pay for full weekends, camping facilities, or required reservations, making a spur of the moment one day wheeling trip impractical or not very affordable.

As a result, MMORV has flexible hours and low fees to allow the average Joe to take a half -day wheeling trip or a weekend long outing. Morris Mountain ORV Park will be open on the 2nd and 4th weekends of every month only. Note this does not apply to privately rented events.
