There are probably more places to ride ATV's in Alabama than there are places to drive a Jeep. Most off road parks that allow full size OHV's such as Jeeps, 4x4 trucks and off road SUV's usually allow ATV's, Side X Side's, UTV's and dirt bikes. However, the same is not true when it comes to ATV only parks or motocross tracks. For example, The Alabama National Forests, Minooka Park Off Road Trails, The Ridge Off Road Riding Park, Top Trails and Wilborn OHV Park only allow ATV's, UTV's and Side by Side's and less than 50 inches on the trails. Dirt bike are also welcome. However, no full size ORV's are allowed. Since these ATV parks are dedicated to ATV's they offer by far some of the best Alabama trails for ATV riders to enjoy.
The remaining Off Road Parks in AL offer a mix of ATV's, Side X Side's, UTV's and dirt bikes along with full size OHV's such as Jeeps and 4x4 mud trucks. The only exception is Morris Mountain ORV Park which is only open to full size ORV's. As is always the case always contact the park owners to verify if your ORV will be allowed at their facility, confirm park hours, pricing and required safety equipment.
One question we seem to get frequently here at Find Off Road Trails is what places have ATV rentals in Alabama? By far the best place we've found to rent ATV's is at The Ridge Off Road Riding Park. The Ridge is not just an ATV park it is an off road destination. Not only will you find some of the best Alabama trails there they also have camping, cabin rentals, RV hook ups, fishing, zip lines, rappelling, a repair shop, riding gear store and much more. If you are truly looking for an ATV rental in Alabama and a place to ride and have fun we suggest checking out The Ridge.
If you own a full size 4x4 ORV there are a number of off road parks that offer some beautiful and challenging Alabama trails to explore.
The difference between an off road park dedicated to ATV's and dirt bikes only verses a mixed use or full size 4x4 only facility is size. When we say size we mean acreage, lots of acreage. For example, Choccolocco Mountain is just 450 acres in size while Stony Lonesome OHV Park is almost 1,500 acres.
The other off road parks that we have not mentioned yet are Boggs And Boulders, Grey Rock ORV and Hawk Pride Offroad Trails. These parks offer trails with mud, rocks and steep hills that will challenge drivers of all skills.
If you are looking for Alabama off road parks with camp grounds you're in luck. Most of the parks offer some type of camping facilities. While some parks offer camping for RV's with full hook ups along with primitive camping and cabin rentals some offer primitive camping only with limited facilities. Know before you go! We strongly suggest visiting each parks web page for details.
