Save "Mudding at the Hoyle" !!!

This is at the park we are trying to save

A few weeks ago there was a active quarry located on Fort Hoyle Rd. in Edgewood, Md. that operates Monday thru Friday that opened to the public to use for off roading on Saturday and Sunday. They allowed us to use this area respectfully after a paid admission and signed waiver. I happened to participate only once on a Sunday afternoon. There was many designated trials to ride and explore. It was a great time to say the least!! Unfortunately this trip was a solo mission due to the fact that ONE in particular neighbor of the quarry made several complaints to the owner(s) of the quarry. This happened to stop all activity for the public to be able to use this land during off-hours of the active quarry.

I would like to have this petition signed and brought to the owner(s) of Harford Industrial Minerals and show them that there is a numerous amount of people that would rather be able to make use of the legally then having to find alternate areas to off road, in some cases illegally. The owners of the quarry have already had a "taste" of the profit to be made with them opening the quarry during off hours. The quarry owners have also seen that the people that have participated in using the area have respected the "No-Use Zones". I have personally enjoyed the time that I have spent using the area and as a local resident I would love if they reopened the quarry for public use.

Deal with it.
by: Anonymous

The people of the Community have been riding off road there for at least as long as I've been alive. And, I know that I will keep riding Joppa/Edgewood for as long as I can find a trail. It's funny that the same people with complaints of injury and deaths are the same people putting traps on the trails.

Dear Anonymous...

I bet you would be pissed off, if someone told you what you could do on your property... Oh, you are probably one of them idiots who bought a house that has a HOA, so they do tell you what you can do... As far as rednecks having fun... You're probably right... rednecks do have a lot of fun... Unlike the boring life you must lead... When you die, they will say he was a quiet, boring man... Lighten up, and live life... Don't be a fun sucker... Take the bubble wrap off your kids, before they suffocate from your over protective ways...

Should 'nt be hearing trucks going down the roads during the week cause the community should be at work. However, it is Edgewood. The counties sore spot!

who was there first?
by: Anonymous

I would like to know what was located in the area first? The quarry or the homes? If it was the homes I can see how landowners would be angered. But if you willingly by a house near a quarry you should expect a lot of noise. Its like buying a home near train tracks and complaining about the train. Now like I said if the homes were there first, by all means complain.

Off-roading is an addiction. With so few places anymore and the few places we still have closing up for residential purposes, we go anywhere we can. Off roaders are very respectable people, not a bunch of rednecks. Many of us join land conservation groups and abide by "tread lightly". Don't let a few ignorant people give you the wrong impression. I have personally helped landowners near the land I wheel on with planting trees, cutting firewood and blocking off access points to the stream. No vehicle should drive in a natural water way unless it is a designated crossing, such as tabernacle rd.

Try to understand different people have different hobbies. Off roading is a hobby. From reading these comments, it seems like politics and law interest the local landowners. I for one, have no interest at all in it. Does that make me a redneck? Or a bad person?

Buy your own property in northern Harford County
by: Anonymous

If you people want to kick up the mud so much why don't you buy your own property in northern Harford County and let those neighbors hear your noise all weekend!!! I could never understand why people buy dirt bikes, quads and every other thing to ride around in the dirt and mud when they have no where to ride them!!
We (Fort Hoyle) residence must listen to dump trucks travel up and down our streets five to six days a week, and now you want us to listen to that noise all weekend. Stop being selfish!!!! And trust me....I'm calling zoning enforcement on Monday and I'm going to let them know about this illegal business. I'm sure that the sand pit is not zoned for "mudding"!!

Messed up facts
by: Anonymous

The real fact is that only ONE neighbor is for this seems kind of strange they are asking anybody to sign why is it that there are so little signatures from the people who actually live on the road being affected. Maybe I should start a petition against yours and show the owner myself!

OUTRAGED NEIGHBORS (means more than ONE)
by: Anonymous

As if the truck traffic wasn't enough??? WE AS A COMMUNITY ARE INFURIATED. The weekend is our only break. Now out of all places I cannot even relax in my own home 2 DAYS OUT OF A WEEK. we yes I did say we have been pushed too far. Then having the audacity to allow a bunch of rednecks to profit off of an illegal business and hiding behind the word donation. YOU BETTER NOTE THE IRS HAS BEEN INFORMED and will be launching a formal investigation of the money collected for charity hope your 5013c is in order(ha ha). Also there have been DEATHS in that pit because of 4 wheel riding. YOU ARE NOT ZONED OR INSURED AND CAN NOT COLLECT ANY MONEY. Do not bother saving this annoyance I WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS. Neither will my community. How dare you feel you have the right to speak on behalf of every resident on Fort Hoyle saying there for it come on and ask us. I WILL NOT SLEAP OR EAT UNTILL "MUDDIN AT THE HOYLE" Is annulated. I am speaking to an attorney to figure out what the level of emotional stress has been caused by this nuisance. Buckle up you are in for a bumpy ride.

OUTRAGED NEIGHBORS (means more than ONE)
by: Anonymous

BELIEVE ME IT WAS WAY WAY WAY LARGER THAN ONE. This is an illegal business and I WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS. If you lived in this community you would be beside yourself with just the truck traffic on weekdays. NOW WE I DID SAY WE HAVE TO LISTEN TO IT ALL WEKKEND???? The only TWO days that we get a break a couple of rednecks are making our yes our life MISERABLE I WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS. No need to waste your energy saving this "annoyance" to my community. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF HIRING AN ATTORNEY AND FIGURING OUT OUR OPTIONS for mental distress buckle up its going to be a bumpy ride. :) I will go door to door neighbor to neighbor I will not rest or eat untill this issue is TERMINATED.

Dirt riders should respect people's privacy
by: Anonymous

In case you are not aware, this gravel pit is in the middle of a community. Nobody wants to work hard all week, looking forward to enjoying their weekend, only to have to put up with more trucks, noise and dirt. There are appropriate places to ride motorcycles and off road vehicles - in the middle of a residential neighborhood is not one. The pit does not have the proper road access, buffering, zoning or licensing to run such an operation. Many vehicles went off the gravel pit's property, into the stream and onto land owned by the development. My belief is: Don't buy an off road vehicle if you don't have the land to ride it!!

the neighbors object
by: Anonymous

I'm sure if you walked to any of those neighbors doors that are "not profiting from this" would say they have enough truck activity and traffic all week that they would not want that noice on the weekends too.
